This week in class we have been asking, “What is the structure of a plant?” We learned that the xylem is responsible for taking water and nutrients from the soil and the roots up to the rest of the plant to make food. We tested this by putting celery into different coloured water to observe if the celery will change colour. We also learned the phloem’s job was to take the food from the leaves down into the rest of the plant. In Computing, we made an animation using iMotion. We took photographs of a stickman to create a stop-frame image, then used onion-skinning to change the stickman, so it looked like it was moving. In Geography, we asked, “What is the structure of the Earth?” We learned these are: inner core, outer core, mantle and crust.
Our 'Flash Back 4' questions were:
1.The Earth structure is made up of 4 parts. What are the called?
2.What do plants need to grow and stay healthy?
3.Anthony Browne and Quentin Blake are what type of artist?
4.There are 5 main food groups: carbohydrates, protein, fat, dairy and fruits & vegetables. What do each of these groups provide the body?
After half term we will be asking, “What is the structure of a volcano?” and “What is the lifecycle of a plant?”
Our spelling rule next week is ‘p’ sounding words, such as: pedal, pedestrian, compel, expel, repel, pentathlon, popular, support, supply, appearance, unpopular, portable
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday
