This week in class we have been learning: What a busy term it has been! We have been Geographers and learnt about the four compass directions and what is a rural and urban area. We have been Scientists and have learnt the properties of common materials and then chosen the most suitable for a dog’s bed. We have been Theologians and found out about how Christians and Jewish people believe the world was made. We have been Mathematicians and found lots of ways to make the numbers to 10 and then applied this knowledge to making 20 , found 1 more and 1 less, counted in 2s and solved many addition and subtraction problems. We have been Writers and learnt to punctuate sentences correctly and to use rhyme, alliteration and synonyms in our writing. We have been Artists and learnt about pattern and tone to create a sculpture inspired by Charles McGee. We have been Musicians and found the pulse of a piece of music and we have been Sports Stars to make up dances to variousness pieces of music.
Our Flashback 4 Questions have been:
Today: In writing, give some synonyms for hot.
2. This/last week: In Geography, what are the 4 compass directions, and can you name the city that is to the south of Keyingham?
3. This term: In RE, how many days do Christians believe it took God to make the world? Name the things that he made.
4. Last term: In science, name the 4 seasons and describe them.
Next term: In History, we will be looking at changes over time with transport and taking a visit Thoth Street Life Museum in Hull. In Science, we will be consolidating our learning so far with a look back at seasonal changes, materials and plants. In Design and Technology, we will be learning joining techniques to build a tower. In RE, we will be looking at the importance of Easter to Christians and in Computing we will be learning how to login in to a laptop and use a mouse accurately.
In Phonics: most of the children are now learning the Set 3 sounds (see sound mats in bookbags to support your child with their learning). Please continue to read and change their books regularly. I have also sent home a sheet of QR codes which give you direct links to Phonics videos that we use in school which will enable you to support your child’s learning of the sounds.
PE Days: our days are Monday and Wednesday
Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. Please spend the week reading the three books that the children now have in their bags.
