This week, in class, we have been asking, “How can we make a box out of fabric?” In DT, we used a card template to cut and fold to make a box, we pinned fabric to this, so we could cut around the shape and then we used PVA glue to stick it together. In Science, we were asking “Why don’t all rocks look the same?” We carried out an investigation to see which rocks were hard and which were soft using sandpaper. We also learned the three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. We used starburst to stack them onto each other and compressed them to make sedimentary rocks and added pressure and heat to make metamorphic rocks. In PE, we used the balance beams to practise the balances we’ve been learning on.
Our “Flashback 4” questions this week were:
1.What is a solution?
2.Rocks can be permeable or impermeable. What does this mean?
3.What is the difference between a political map and a physical map?
4.The Bible was written by 1 person. True, or false?
Next week, we’ll be asking, “What are fossils and how are they formed?” and “What is an OS map?”
Our spelling rule next week is “i‘’ sounding words: experiment, history, imagine, increase, binoculars, stability, ordinary, building, analysis, image, builder, fitter
Next week, our PE days are Tuesday and Friday
