This week, in class, we have been asking, “What are the physical and human features in our region?” We learned about 4 different types of settlements: city, town, village and a hamlet. We discovered that hamlets are even smaller than villages, with only a few human features, such as houses, or farms, with lots of green spaces. Whereas a city has more human features, such as transport links, greater number of buildings and more populated. In Computing, we asked, “What is a network?” and began learning about how computers can send messages to each other. In class we modelled this with string and used a network switch, which job it is to direct the messages to the correct places. In Science, we carried out an investigation to see what soil is made from. We looked at different soil samples (clay coil, chalk soil and sandy soil) to see how they were different in appearance and texture.
Our “Flashback 4” questions this week were:
1.What is the purpose of a network switch?
2.Ordinal Survey (OS) maps show what?
3.Can you describe the erosion process?
4.How many beats do you hold a quaver for?
Next week, we’ll be asking, “How are computers connected across a network?”
Our spelling rule next week is “u‘’ sounding words: unfair, undone, enough, reluctant, company, method, random, rough, tough, recover, millimetre, millilitre
Next week, our PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor)
