This week in class we have been asking: In geography, what human and physical features can you see on the school grounds? In science, can you identify a deciduous or coniferous tree? In RE, why is Jesus special to Christians? In art, what colours did Mondrian like to use for his artwork? In Jigsaw, what are my rights and responsibilities in Year 1? In Maths, how can I use a part-whole model? In Writing, what are rhyming words?

Our Flashback 4 Questions have been:

  1. Today: In maths, complete the part-whole model

2. This/last week: In geography, name some human and physical features from around school.

3. This term: In art, Mondrian liked to use what colours for his artwork?

4. Last term: In mathematical language, explain where Fred is:

Next week, we will be consolidating our learning from across the term by putting together our Key Pieces for our Key Pieces Book. We will be scientists by carrying out an investigation asking; do all apples have the same number of seeds? We will be artists by combining the work of Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian. We will be Theologians by explaining how Christians show that they belong to Christianity.

In Phonics, we will be learning the sounds ir (girl) ou (shout) and oy (toy). (see sounds mat in Reading Book Bag to support your child further).

PE Days: Monday and Wednesday.

Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. Please read the book several times until they are fluent and no longer sounding out all the words.
