This week in class we have been asking:  In science, how do we get night and day? In RE, what made Jesus a special baby and why do we have advent calendars? In history, what did my parents and grandparents use to listen to music? In Maths, what do we mean when we say ‘what are the properties of these shapes? In Writing, what imperative verbs can I use to write my instructions to make a jam sandwich?

Our Flashback 4 Questions have been:

  1. Today: In Maths, what is the difference between a square and a rectangle?

2. This/last week: In science, how do we get night and day?

3. This term: In DT, what forces are used to make a slider work?

4. Last term: In geography, what is the difference between a village and a city?

Next week, we will be asking: In history, who is in the Royal family tree and what technology did they use? In science, what is the moon for? In computing, what tools can I use to make a picture? In Jigsaw, what are compliments? In design and technology, how can I make a picture move on my Christmas card?

In Phonics, Mrs Lawson’s group will be recapping all of the Set 2 sounds and Miss Kay’s group are starting the Set 3 sounds. (see sounds mat in Reading Book Bag to support your child further).

PE Days: will continue to be Monday and Wednesday.

Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. I have now included the book they have been reading in their Phonics lesson and they can choose a ‘free reader’ from the classroom as well as their reading book so they have extra to read. If you think they need extra time to become fluent with their Phonics books, then please keep them longer.
