This week in class we have been learning: in geography, what is a rural area, and do we live in one? In science, why are some objects made from different materials? In Jigsaw, how can we stretch our brains? In PE, how can I move my body close to the ground? In maths, how can a number line help me to add numbers within 20? In writing, what is alliteration?

Our Flashback 4 Questions have been:

  1. Today: In writing, explain what alliteration means and give examples.

2. This/last week: In geography, what is the difference between

urban and rural areas? What might you find in a rural area?

3. This term: In science, name some materials that are rough and smooth.

4. Last term: In design and technology, what forces did you use to make your sliders work?

Next week, we will be asking: in art, how can I make a sculpture like Charles McGee? In geography, what features can we find in a rural area? In science, what would the best material be for a dog’s bed? In writing, what is a synonym? In maths, how can some number bonds help us to solve other additions?

In Phonics: most of the children are now learning the Set 3 sounds (see sound mats in bookbags to support your child with their learning). Please continue to read and change their books regularly.

PE Days: our days are Monday and Wednesday

Library Van: we will be visiting the library van on Tuesday. The children do not need to bring their own cards for school but you can visit the van on your way home.

Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. Please spend the week reading the three books that the children now have in their bags.

In English, we have been using the Reading Eggs programme and it is helping us with our readinng. I have brought home my login so that I can access this programme at home.
