This week in class we have been learning: In history, how did space travel begin? In science, what do scientists know about the moon? In Jigsaw, what healthy lifestyle choices can I make? In RE, is it possible to make something from nothing? In DT, how can I join card together? In PE, can I link my jumps together?  In writing, what is a recount and how do I write one? In Maths, how do I make the numbers up to 50? And, of course, we all enjoyed the super-power of reading on World Book Day and there were some amazing super powers on show.

Our Flashback 4 Questions have been:

  1. Today: In maths, what are the missing numbers?

2. This/last week: In history, what was the first thing that was sent to the moon and why?

3. This term: In science, what is the season now and what happens in this season?

4. Last term: In art, explain what ‘tone’ means and how

Charles McGee used it.

Next week we will be asking: In history, how did air travel begin? In science, what is the purpose of all the different parts of a flower? In Jigsaw, how does keeping clean keep me healthy? In RE, does everything have a cause? In PE, how do I jump like a gymnast? In writing, what are pronouns and proper nouns? In Maths, how do I use the tens and ones to make numbers to 50?

In Phonics: most of the children are now learning the Set 3 sounds (see sound mats in bookbags to support your child with their learning). Please continue to read and change their books regularly. I have also sent home a sheet of QR codes which give you direct links to Phonics videos that we use in school which will enable you to support your child’s learning of the sounds.

PE Days: our days are Monday and Wednesday

Book Bags: please send your child with their books on a Monday to be changed for the week. Please spend the week reading the three books that the children now have in their bags. In addition, your child may come home with a ‘Little People Big Dreams’ book of their choice. If you read it with them and they are able to answer the questions on the inside cover, they can bring it back to earn more house points from Mrs White if they get them all correct.
